Influenzic includes a built-in database migrator that runs automatically on plugin upgrade. For most updates, no manual steps are required beyond the standard WordPress plugin update flow.
Standard Upgrade Process
- 1
Back up your database and files before any major version upgrade. Use your hosting control panel, a backup plugin, or
wp db export. - 2
In WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Installed Plugins and click Update Now when a new release is available, or upload the updated zip via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- 3
The migrator runs automatically on the first admin page load after the plugin files are updated. It checks
INZC_DB_VERSIONagainst the stored option and applies any outstanding schema changes using idempotentdbDelta()executions. - 4
Check Influenzic → System Status → Database Status to confirm all custom tables are at the expected schema version.
Checking the DB Version
The current expected schema version is defined by the INZC_DB_VERSION constant in class-plugin.php. The installed version is stored in the inzc_db_version WordPress option. If these differ, the migrator runs.
// Check from WP-CLI
wp option get inzc_db_version
Re-Running the Migrator Manually
If you suspect a migration did not complete (e.g. a server timeout during a large migration), you can force it to re-run by temporarily deleting the stored version:
// WP-CLI
wp option delete inzc_db_version
Then load any wp-admin page. The migrator will re-apply all pending changes. This is safe to run on an already-migrated database — dbDelta() is idempotent.
